“Fascinating: a classically timeless bike with the temperament of a full-carbon racer.
For me, one of the best bikes on the market.”
Henri Lesewitz, BIKE Magazin (September 2014)
The rider who turns up at the starting line with this machine hasn’t brought any questions. They know who they are. They know what they can do. They know where they want to get: right to the top.
We’ve created the Rennstahl 931 MTB for committed racers who simply aren’t going to compromise. Lively racing geometry and an extra wide PF92 bottom bracket ensure maximum power response, complemented by top-end components that have been tested to the max on the racing scene. The extreme hardness of the stainless steel allows Reynolds to produce tubing with a wall thickness of as little as 0.38mm. That saves weight – without sacrificing the advantages of steel: strength, durability and ‘feel’.
In the heat of the race, things happen. The 931 MTB’s frame has plenty of strength in reserve, to hold its alignment even after crashing a pre requisite for rides like the Great Divide or the Trans-Mongolia – where you need to know that its metal is good.
On the rocks or in the mud – wherever it goes, the 931 alloy is totally corrosion-proof. This means that instead of painting it, we can issue it in a hand applied (and head turning) brushed finish. The result? A low-key but hard-edged minimalism that makes one thing clear: this bike is going places.
The frame’s classic race geometry – long top tube, short chain stays, steep angles – is supplied with either rigid titanium forks or a choice of suspension forks from Cannondale or DT Swiss. Gears (various ratios) and brakes can be chosen from Shimano’s top end systems.
931 MTB Plus with derailleur gears available soon.
