“Manufacturing quality and precision, down to the finest detail.”
Norman Bielig, chief editor, world of mtb Magazin
They say the adventure begins where the road ends. And for that, you need a reliable machine. But does reliability have to exclude beauty? We have created the 931 MTB Pinion for riders with high demands in form as well as function. The frame combines lean, multi-butted Reynolds tubing with the compact Pinion gearing system. The gearing mechanism is integrated into the frame using our forged and machined housing – thereby placing the centre of gravity in the optimal position: the bottom bracket area. Up to 18 gears, with even ratio steps of 11.5%, and a ratio range of 636%, guarantee optimal power, whether for steep slopes or on the long haul.
The 931 Pinion’s frame has specially-forged sliding dropouts for chain-tensioning; the right-hand seat stay can be released for easy fitting of a drive-belt. The dropouts have separate attachment points for rack and mudguard; a detail that brings much more stability than a single braze-on for both. The side-stand mounting point is positioned so that the front wheel doesn’t swing round when the bike is parked: a detail not picked up on by most manufacturers, but one that is extremely popular with our customers – especially when a bike is fully laden.
The frame is hand-treated to give it its distinctive brushed-steel sheen. The Rennstahl name is then ground into the metal using a sand-blasting process.
The 931 MTB Pinion is available with a 9-, 12- or 18-speed Pinion gearing system, with even ratio steps and a ratio range of up to 636%: ready for any riding situation. It can be ordered as a pure MTB, or with a choice of practical accessories like mudguards, rack and lights. A range of options packages covering stem, handlebars and seat pin leave plenty of room for individuality.
