Keep going. Don’t give up. Stay ahead of the pack. Anyone who is chasing a distant goal has to work hard.
This was our starting point when designing this expedition-ready touring bike: stainless-steel frame and Pinion gears meet as a superlative bike that is almost indestructible.
Every explorer benefited from the technical developments of their time. Does your internal compass also point towards adventure? We have built a bike that you can climb onto in front of your front door, and a few weeks later be crossing the Arctic Circle.
Designed for: day rides, mountain touring, expeditions – on snow, sand, or mud
This is no bike for anyone with a fear of committing to a relationship. The Rennstahl 853 MTB Derailleur defies anything its rider may subject it to – and will continue to do so over the years that come. But its ultimate willingness to comply makes it the perfect life partner.
Designed for: touring, mountain trails, everyday use
The Rennstahl 853 MTB Pinion, with its centrally-positioned internal gear system, is certainly the kind of bike that turns heads. But it’s not just for show: with its array of fine details, it is ideal for a wide range of uses.
“The internet is full of extreme trips made by extreme riders, with extreme camera angles and extreme angles on life. They usually have masses of time, no family waiting at home, and Red Bull is donating a shower and sending a box of stickers. This is having an enormous knock-on effect, and ‘adventure’ is being ever more closely associated with simple recklessness in the face of death. For me, the adventure begins where my comfort zone ends.”
Gunnar Fehlau, world of mtb (April 2016)
Thinking in new dimensions: the 931 Pinion Fatbike’s lean stainless-steel frame and slender rigid titanium fork make a stark contrast with its wide fatbike tyres. This bike is for all adventurers for whom the fun begins where the path ends. No matter whether we’re talking Siberia, Algeria, or just around the corner, anywhere that ‘going for a bike ride’ means covering long stretches of soft ground, the 931 Pinion Fatbike feels right at home. For this is where the fat, low-pressure tyres show their strengths, with optimal traction and low rolling resistance. The Pinion enclosed gears are subtly and elegantly integrated within the frame, underlining the bike’s total focus on conquering extreme conditions. They are completely impervious to all forms of sand, mud, snow or ice, and guarantee effortless gear changes wherever you go. Our Fatbike is also a favourite amongst riders who are looking for a mountain bike that offers 100% dependability, and are prepared to forego suspension – and all the maintenance it entails. The fat tyres have a level of shock-absorption approaching that provided by short-travel suspension bikes, and their large contact area provides increased grip and stability: something particularly appreciated by riders new to this kind of cycling.
The bike can be supplied with either a 9-, 12- or 18-speed Pinion gearing system, with even ratio spacing and a total ratio range of up to 636%. Drive belt transmission is available as an option, and is totally maintenance-free. Like the rest of the Rennstahl range, the Fatbike can be supplied built for touring or everyday use. Ex works or retro-fitted, the bike can be equipped with mudguards, racks and state-of-the-art dynamo lighting.
