“The elegant stainless-steel Randonneur skilfully negotiates the boundary between touring and sport.”

Touring cyclists aren’t interested in constantly replacing their bikes to follow passing trends. They prefer to stick with a solid, dependable machine that has proved itself over time. That’s why you see so many randonneur bikes from venerable old manufacturers that – despite the marks left from a long lifetime of use – just keep on going.
And that’s exactly what can be expected of the Rennstahl 931 Randonneur, with its corrosion-resistant, high endurance tube set. In conjunction with robust Tubus rack and low-riders, this means a maximum loading of 170kg – this bike is built for heavy riders and large loads. Front and rear thru-axles provide stability and freedom from disc-brake drag under heavy loads. Thanks to the special disc brake anchor points, front discs up to 200mm can be fitted. The 50mm head tube gives front-end stability and inhibits frame movement when riding heavily-laden at high speeds. Similarly, for the bottom bracket we have opted for the wider, high-strength PF86 standard.
Numerous details mean that the 931 Randonneur Derailleur is suited for both long-distance touring and daily commuting: external gear and brake cable routing means easier maintenance; the more vulnerable dynamo cable goes through the inside of the frame; and the SON dynamo drives both the lighting system (a SON Edelux II in front and a top-quality Busch & Müller at the rear), and a USB charger on the stem – a very useful feature in this era of smartphones and digital cameras.
The 931 Randonneur Derailleur is available in three sizes, and is built to our proven touring geometry. Wheel clearance is designed for typical sport-touring tyres. The bike is fitted with Shimano Ultegra components, including hydraulic disc brakes (diameter 180/160mm to 203/180mm). In addition to the standard Syntace option, a Titanium package using Falkenjagd components is available, also a Tune Components option in a range of anodised colours. The 931 Randonneur Derailleur also comes with a SON hub dynamo and SON and B&M lights, plus stainless-steel rack and low-riders from Tubus.
