“When it comes to new high-end products, Rennstahl are usually up in front.”
Jens Kockerbeck, aktiv Radfahren (March 2015)
We make statements that are backed up by hard facts. Not wishful thinking. And once again, it’s about everything. It’s about a new standard. About a touring bike that, in every sense, is a one-off. This bike sets the bar for innovation, intelligent details and the ability to take a design from studio to mountain-top.
Our Pinion touring bike, made from Reynolds 931 stainless-steel tubes, is an expedition bike through and through: extremely solid, and exceptionally reliable – thanks to its frame-fitted Pinion gearing system. Like almost all the bike’s components, the Pinion is made in Germany, and represents a significant moment of engineering history.
The 931 Reiserad is available with three versions of the Pinion: the top-end 18-speed, and 9- and 12-speed options. This means the bike can be fine-tuned to suit its anticipated area of use.
Also virtually maintenance-free and exceptionally durable, a drive-belt system can be provided as an alternative to the traditional chain. With its slider dropouts, the frame can be fitted with 650B and 700C wheels, so that without affecting circumference (with a knock-on effect on handling), a selection can be made between tyres that give a lower rolling resistance and tyres with emphasis on strength and off-road capability. The frame geometry, with its sloping top tube, allows extra flexibility in terms of rider posture – which can be adjusted between a sportier, stretched-out set-up and a more comfortable upright position.
With titanium fork, stainless-steel rack and low-riders, and titanium components, the bike looks stunning and represents the pinnacle of bicycle engineering.
The Pinion-specific frame is built from corrosion-proof Reynolds 931 stainless-steel. The titanium fork is a perfect match, both aesthetically and in terms of ‘feel’. The bike can be supplied fitted with Tubus stainless-steel rack and low-riders. Adjustable dropouts allow 650B and 700C wheels to be fitted. The stainless steel looks particularly attractive when supplied with Falkenjagd titanium components; a Syntace build is also available, as well as a Tune Components package, available in a range of anodised colours. Optional finishing touches include a SON Edelux II headlamp with matching rear light and SON hub dynamo, and top-quality SKS-Bluemels mudguards.
